Have you ever felt thirsty in the mountains?
Dehydration is a common problem during any outdoor winter activity. It can be particularly easy to become dehydrated when skiing or snowboarding. Both the cold, dry air and the physical exertion involved can contribute to dehydration.
Staying hydrated is important for your body to function at its best. Here are a few tips to help you stay hydrated on the slopes.
- - It's easy to forget to drink water when you're having fun on the slopes, and difficult to carry a bottle of water in a bag when temperatures are negative. Our advice is to take a thermos of tea and stop regularly to hydrate.
- - You can also consume 1 tablet of HANG-OVER, containing electrolytes, in 50cl of water in the morning before setting off. They can replace the electrolytes you lose through perspiration and help you stay hydrated more effectively.
- - As well as drinking fluids, you can also prevent dehydration by dressing appropriately. Wear several layers of clothing to regulate your body temperature and prevent sweating. And make sure you cover your skin to protect you from the cold, dry air. A face mask or neck gaiter can help keep your skin moist and prevent it from drying out.
- - Pay attention to your body's thirst signals. If you feel thirsty, it's probably already too late - your body is already starting to dehydrate.
